Byron Pickett will resume 100% commitment to Melbourne Football Club after next slice of pizza

Byron Pickett will resume his 100% commitment to the Melbourne Football Club just as soon as he’s finished this next slice of meatlovers’ pizza, he said this week.

Speaking from a beanbag in his home, Pickett said he was dedicated to add to his 190-plus AFL matches and help Melbourne repair its winless start to the season, but there were a couple of things he needed to take care of first.

“We all know it’s been a tough start to the season for the boys,” Pickett said. “Early losses, all those injuries to Neitz, Robertson, McLean and so on, then those two heartbreaking results in a row to Port Adelaide and the Western Bulldogs.”

"That’s why, just as soon as I polish off this delicious, pan-fried, 18-inch meatlovers’ pizza topped with olive wedges, pepperoni, diced bacon and an inch of mozzarella cheese, I’m ready to hit the training track really, really hard and help the Demons fight back.”

“Oh, and I’ve got this slab to look after,” Pickett added.
